Welcome to Jared and YoungJun who bridged on May 28th.

Wow, what a time we had on the long anticipated Mystery Trip on the 16th to 18th. River rafting, great food, ice cream we made ourselves, the covered bridge, and a secluded campsite were all big hits. To top it off, the beauty and wonder of nature was an added attraction for the scouts. This trip will be one that is talked about for some time by the 22 scouts who attended and by those who couldn't attend but now wished they had.

The Spring Camporee at Rancho Los Moches was the destination for 16 scouts on the 11-13th. Although the rain and mud made things a big mess the scouts had a good time. The Panther Patrol took 3rd place in First Aid and the Flaming Arrows took a 1st place in Rifle Shooting. Good job!

12 scouts braved the cold and snow for a trip to Pinecrest on the 8th & 9th. Forts made from ice, snow balls, sledding and all around snow fun was had by all. While the scouts were pretty much oblivious to the cold the adults noted that hot coffee would turn to ice if left on the table too long.

Webelos joined us for a campout at Boulder Creek Scout Reservation on the 18th & 19th. The troop arrived Friday night with the Webelos joining us on Saturday morning. The scouts enjoyed setting up events for the Webelos to take part in and all the Webelos had a great time learning about boy scout skills. Troop 905 from Dublin joined us for the campfire program Saturday night. The weather was perfect--cool at night but very pleasant during the day.

A group of 9 intrepid backpackers set off to complete the Skyline To The Sea Trail on the 27th. Two days into the three day trip the weather won out. Rain and wind cut the trip short but this determined group plans to complete this hike soon. To the beach or bust!.

Our annual Bike Trip and Golden Skillet Cook-off took place on the 21st-22nd with 16 scouts attending. Three patrols took part in the cook-off and the final results were a tie. The menus consisted of Hawaiian, Italian and Mexican food-great job by all the patrols.

The troop attended the Winter Awareness Seminar put on by the OA on the 7th. The scouts and adults who attended learned about camping in cold weather and how to stay dry and warm while doing so. Several Troop 103 scouts who are OA members also participated as instructors at this event.

After distributing bags on the 9th a total of 15 scouts travelled to Los Moches for a one night Survival Campout. After unloading our gear we backpacked to our campsite and then several groups set off to explore the back country. We discovered a stage, various trail markers, and a sign for Aqua Mesa. This trip re-kindled an interest to discover more about the long forgotten hiking trails at Los Moches.

After the bag pickup on the 16th we conducted a troop Junior Leader Training (JLT) class taught by the older scouts at Los Moches. This was an opportunity for the recently elected and appointed junior leaders to learn leadership skills.
