  MYSTERY TRIP
  May 16-18, 2003

During each troop meeting one clue about the Mystery Trip will be revealed. Each registered troop member will be allowed one guess per meeting to be submitted on the form provided.  The guess will need to include the destination and the activity.  If you think you know the destination and activity submit your answers but keep it secret.  If you're right you don't want others to know; and if you're wrong, we'll... you don't want others to know.  Adults, you can guess too.

Only your most recent guess will count.  You can guess as many times (once per week) as you like, but if you think you have the correct answer, stop guessing or your next guess will cause your previous guess to be tossed out. Prizes will be awarded.

#DATE GIVENCLUE
110/07/2002The name of our ultimate destination has something in common with "our" camporee.
210/14/2002One if by Land and two if by Sea,
Paul Revere we shall not see,
but have no doubt we should be,
using several to total three.
310/21/2002Our October 2000 destination and our Mystery Trip destination share a common thread.
410/28/2002If you add the route numbers together for all the highways/roads we will travel you might get 1698.
511/4/2002Their pans and boxes did once abound, but we won't use them while in the town.
611/18/2002"Our Lady of Guadalupe" was the name originally given to this landmark.
712/02/2002The history of our golden state,
May help you solve your future fate,
But if you come to school too late,
You'll miss the trip cause we won't wait.
812/09/2002What do Mission San Jose, Father Duran and an Indian Boy named Estanislao, have to do with our Mystery Trip?
912/16/2002We will pass very close to Honolulu on Saturday afternoon.
1001/06/2003No matter what you do, this trip will have lots of turns.
1101/13/2003A short hike to your campsite is required. It is named after the foot wear of another mammal.
1201/27/2003During the Mystery Trip you might encounter: Quercus, Ichthyo, and Riven.
1302/03/2003Even though you're not in school,
Classes will be very cool,
If you follow all the rules,
Otherwise you'll look the fool.
1402/10/2003Water, water, every where, but not a drop to drink.
1502/24/2003A wooden bridge with floor and roof,
Won't be crossed on horse's hoof,
It won't be crossed on wheel or rim,
It won't be crossed on a whim.
1603/03/2003A toll bridge near our destination reportedly once charged $3.00 for elephants to cross.
1703/10/2003Although we will not visit them, we will be within a few miles of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and the Matterhorn.
1803/17/2003Many good turns will bring you sweet rewards, but not until we're done.
1903/24/2003Orange Blossoms will signal the end of the journey.
2003/31/2003A rusty hoosegow made of steel
T'was the home to those who steal
Once housed powder that would burn
But now it sets feeling spurned.
2104/07/2003
This week is a visual clue. The third one was shown at the troop meeting but they all could be helpful.
2204/14/2003Pack it in and pack it out,
This I say there is no doubt,
The hike is short so do not pout,
You'll do fine because you're scouts.

All your gear must be contained,
This my friend I have explained,
On you back and in your pack,
Otherwise we'll send you back.

Your hike will be but just a mile,
So "Be Prepared" to keep a smile,
Cause when you arrive in awhile,
The place may look just like the Nile.

2304/28/2003If you draw a triangle with its points being a major shipping port established by a 1906 Supreme Court decree, a capital city over 150 years old, and a national park established in 1890, our destination will be contained within.
2405/05/2003You have a vested interest in this trip.
2505/12/2003Rapid decisions are the order of the day.
That's all the clues. By now you should be able to figure it out. If you didn't attend and still don't know, you'll have to wait until next week to see the answers.
